Elasticsearch

Elasticsearch is an open-source, distributed search and analytics engine. It is designed for horizontal scalability, reliability, and real-time search capabilities. Originally created by Shay Banon and first released in 2010, Elasticsearch is now maintained by Elastic NV.

Elasticsearch utilizes a distributed architecture to ensure high availability and scalability. It is built on top of Apache Lucene, a well-known search library, and offers RESTful APIs for interfacing with various applications. The protocol used by Elasticsearch for communication is based on JSON over HTTP, making it easy to query and index data. With its robust indexing capabilities, Elasticsearch is widely used for applications needing full-text searches, logging, and data analysis. Elastic NV, the organization behind Elasticsearch, has developed a rich ecosystem around it, including products like Kibana, Logstash, and Beats, which together form the Elastic Stack.
